Publisher's Synopsis
A group of men gathered around a saloon bar aboard a steamer chugging up the Western Australian coast. Of those among this group, one would soon lay dead and partially decomposed in mangroves upon discovery with a bullet wound to the head, while another would eventually face the gallows at Fremantle Prison. Charles Henry Spargo embarked upon a remarkable series of serious crimes and was eventually caught out by what he may have considered to be the remoteness of his final act, although a trail of evidence carelessly left in his wake was also a major contributing factor. Other unsolved capital crimes have since been attributed to him.
