Publisher's Synopsis
Since the middle of the previous century the emphasis on synchronical approaches increased and the traditional historical critical understanding of the Pentateuch was put under great pressure. At the beginning of the 21st century there is much more of an awareness that both approaches must come into play. This book explores the possibilities of these views for the study of the Pentateuch. It also illuminates the way in which South Africans have reflected on this problem in the past as well as in the present.
