Publisher's Synopsis
This is a family story of two brothers born and raised in The Gorbals in Glasgow. They were not much more than boys, but they had lives full of adventure and courage. Joseph earned the George Cross aged only 19, when he died trying to save others from an imminent explosion, as a driver in the Royal Army Service Corps in Hong Kong. James enlisted in 1942 and spent four years at sea, serving in the Royal Navy, before setting sail to seek his fortune in Australia. Their stories reunited two branches of the same family and were the inspiration for the book.
