Publisher's Synopsis
This issue presents data on the capacity of free radicals to cause histamine release from mast cells. The author discusses the state of the oxidant-antioxidant system of mast cells and the changes initiated when this system is activated by immunological or non-immunological stimuli. The author also demonstrates that the secretion of histamine and changes in the oxidant-antioxidant system, elicited by the receptor-mediated activation of cells, have a common trigger stage although subsequent stages proceed independently, and evaluates drug control of immediate allergic response.
