Publisher's Synopsis

Some Came Home, But Never Returned is about a soldier who served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. He was a decorated soldier with many medals and ribbons. On May 1st General Chritenburger took the 9th infantry and the 3rd brigade into Cambodia. Dennis James Sullivan Jr. was with the 9th infantry when they went into Cambodia. Dennis was in a firefight with the Vietcong when he was wounded in the chest and the right leg. He was aware that other soldiers were wounded and were not getting up. Dennis adrenaline kicked in and he got up began taking the wounded soldiers to the helicopter under enemy fire. For this he was given the Medal of Honor unofficially and two Purple Hearts in a cluster. I married Dennis Sullivan in 1976 and we had four childen and I had a son before we were married. Life was really hard being married to Dennis. He would wake up in a cold sweat speaking Di Di Mau. which means lets get out of here. He would wake up swinging his arms and speaking Vietnamese. He suffered from PostTramatic Stress Disorder, flashbacks and the dreams. He was very abusive to the childen and me. I didn't understand why his behavior was so bad. I finally understood what he went through after he died. I received information from the Veterans Administation when he applied for PTSD. He wrote about his combat and PTSD expierences in Vietnam. When Clark and I were writing the book was living these expierences too. I realized I was beginning to forgive my husband for the things he did to the children and me. The Children and i have forgiven him too. I hope that for those who read this book it will help them understand what soldiers go through in war from the soldiers point of view. Dennis died in 1993 from a long illness in the LDS Hostpital with his family at his side.
