Lubos comes back to his birth village of Kameny after many years. He finds the place has changed. The wars of the kingdom have left it poor, with many people having left in search of a safer place. But recently, numerous people have disappeared and desperate villagers are looking to accuse the first person to come.
Lubos slowly finds his place in Kameny, finding Snezhna, the woman he loved before he left. They find again love between them. The innkeeper Slavian helps him while the bailiff Tiyan finds ways to accuse him of being the murderer of the disappeared villagers.
