London became a socialist and his writings reflect this change in his political views. He is best known for his novels The Call of the Wild and White Fang. Christopher Bellew was a young man with a clever brain and flabby muscles. Bellew goes north to face primitive conditions in the Klondike, where he proves himself and wins the name "Smoke." The story is continued in the sequel "Smoke i Shorty".
