Sometimes one finds themselves in a situation where they don't want to be and with people they don't want to be around. Joshua Tree was also written as a short screenplay and some of the scenes were actually shot.

Although a fictitious western Hangman and the Harlot does have a few facts weaved into the story. For instance there are thirteen chapters as many wraps in the knot that makes up a hangman's noose.
