Publisher's Synopsis
This is a study of the skeletons of 21 different animals - from the bones of a huge whale to those of a small bat. The large format allows for meticulously detailed artwork, on black backgrounds for maximum effect and clarity. Checked by experts for accuracy, these illustrations enable children to see inside animals. Small illustrations of the animal in motion are accompanied by a caption which explains the relationship between the animal's skeleton and its movement. Another illustration of each "whole" animal helps with identification and invites comparisons with the skeletons within. A visual glossary at the back of the book helps children to learn the names and basic shape of individual bones and indentify them when looking at the entire skeletons.
