The distinguished man, knighted by Her Most Anglican Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Second, in 1998, has been given a biography; since it is a comprehensive biography it is a very short volume. Since the death, Tennyson, Browning, Melville, Dickinson, religion-mad Eliot, sex-mad Lawrence being ignorable, of Dickens the best English has been written by foreigners, Joyce, an Irishman, Borges translating his stories from Spanish to English, and a certain anatomically non-caucasian Canadian. I am writing in the time when only trash toddling is "publicized." When Milton published "Paradise Lost" it meant that he had completed the poem and was publishing it. Copyeditors, proofreaders, printers, advertisers did not matter: until modern capitalism took over, including in publishing post-Marxist cultural commentary. It is all capitalism, all lies.
