A group of ten single travellers sets off to Egypt for a week's cruise up the Nile. The tour Leader, Pat, has the unenviable task of trying to give them all a good time, and sort out their problems. She can, by turns, be organised, anxious, and motherly, and she's nursing a dark secret. The clients are a mixed bunch, amongst them are a student, a widow, a retired Colonel, a counsellor and a sheep farmer. The holiday is a catalogue of disasters, starting with a significantly delayed flight from the UK.
