Publisher's Synopsis
Film version of the upbeat musical comedy by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, written as an homage to the musicals of Broadway. A gentle satire on the lives and aspirations of young Soviets in the late 1950s, the story follows the on-off romances of three young couples as they battle bureaucracy, petty corruption and bizarre complications to acquire dream homes in sought-after 'Cherry Town', a new showcase estate in the Moscow suburbs.
