In the reign of Edward IV., john eger'i'on, OF egerton, son of Philip Egerton of Egerton, and grand son of Sir John Egerton of Egerton, Knight (who was slain with Lord Audley at the battle of Blore Heath on the agrd of September, married Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Hugh Done, of Oulton, by his wife Anne, daughter of James Lord Audley, above mentioned, relictof Sir Thomas Dutton, of Dutton, Knight. By this alliance the Oulton estate came into possession of the Egerton family.
