Every year since, Mary has received a pearl from a mystery benefactor... In 'The Master Blackmailer' (1992) all London fears blackmailer Charles Augustus Milverton (Robert Hardy). This unpleasant fellow has spent years preying on the weaknesses of others and has made his fortune in the process... In 'The Last Vampyre' (1993), one hundred years after Lamberley aristocrat Lord St Clair was burned alive in his mansion by locals who blamed him for the bloody murder of a local girl, his descendant, John Stockton (Roy Marsden), dines with new village resident Bob Ferguson (Keith Barron). When Ferguson's baby son dies suddenly afterwards, the old rumours begin to circulate again. In 'The Eligible Bachelor' (1993) Holmes is not amused when Lord Robert St Simon (Simon Williams) requests him to track down his fiancée, an American heiress who disappeared on the very morning of their wedding. Confiding to Watson that he almost wishes he could meet an adversary to match his former nemesis, Moriarty, Holmes is nonetheless intrigued when he discovers that Lord Robert is not all that he seems.
