Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Shakespeare's Tragedy of Timon of Athens

Timon of Alfiem, as the critics now almost unani mously agree, is Shakespeare's only in part, and is little read except by critical students. The corruptions in the original text are numerous, and some of them peculiarly perplexing; and the modern editors vary much in their attempts to correct and explain them. I have recorded and discussed such of these variations as are likely to be of interest to readers and students. In other respects the introduction and notes conform to the general plan of the present edition.
