Publisher's Synopsis
Washington D C cop, Joe MacDaniels accidently shoots and kills his longtime partner during a chaotic drug bust. Following the investigation, after he is cleared of any charges, he takes himself away from the entire situation. He moves a few things to an old cottage on the shore of the Atlantic in Maryland's Ocean City. This is where Sterling Powell finds him. She is on assignment from a billionaire who secretly uses his money to help those who need it. She finds the grief stricken officer to be surly, unfriendly and miserable. He questions her with his suspicions that she is on some sort of mission for the press or IAD and he wants nothing to do with her. She wears him down, and begins to build his trust. But then a bullet signaling they weren't alone on that part of the beach, alerted them to their own danger. Before long, she realizes she is in love with this big, rebellious, suspicious lion. Joe finds this woman fanciful, intruding and most deliciously beautiful. Her smiling eyes, her happy attitude, her persistence both piss him off and grab him by the heart. Will they survive the threat to their lives?
