Publisher's Synopsis
This book is designed to help us grasp both the simplicity and complexity of the gospel. The simplicity is found in the word grace. Grace means gift-something not earned or deserved. The gospel is God's gift to sinners through the substitutionary ministry of Jesus where he stands in for us before the law as our sin-bearer and righteousness provider. But there is complexity to grace, too. The tool we will use to unravel the potential confusion is called the Ordo Salutis, a Latin phrase meaning Order of Salvation. What the Ordo Salutis attempts to do is understand the specific strands of the gospel in a logical progression, much like the conception, birth, and growth of a human being. While there are more than seven strands of grace in the rope that secures us to God, the seven strands in the Ordo Salutis will help us see more of the gospel's wonder, beauty, and transforming power.
