Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2019 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,3, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Veranstaltung: Proseminar Romantik, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Unter den Pseudonymen "Tian" und "Ion" veröffentlichte Karoline von Günderrode in ihrer relativ kurzen Schaffensperiode von 1799 - 1806 nur wenige Werke, in manchen Literaturgeschichten findet sich nicht einmal eine Erwähnung. Lange Zeit galt, wenn überhaupt, nur ihr lyrisches Schaffen als interessant, zeitgenössische Kritiken ihrer Dramen fielen negativ aus. Dabei zeigt sich in dem Stück Udohla unter anderem, wie gründlich Günderrode die philosophischen Diskussionen, Stimmungen und das politische Geschehen verfolgte. Es gibt sowohl Studien zum Orientalismus in Günderrodes Gedichten und ausgewählten Prosastücken als auch Studien über Udohla, jedoch ohne auf den orientalischen Handlungsraum näher einzugehen als in Hinblick auf die darin angewandte Taktik der Analogie. Obwohl dies bestimmt auch ein Interesse Günderrodes gewesen sein mochte, glaube ich, dass sich noch andere (insbesondere romantische) Motive im Drama finden lassen. In Udohla verflocht Günderrode romantische Motive mit einem klassischen Aufbau nach Aristoteles, wobei die romantischen Elemente im Verhältnis zu den "klassizistischen Tendenzen" überwiegen. Viele der Charaktere sind dem "Sehnen", wie Fichte es in seiner Wissenschaftslehre beschreibt, verfallen, wobei es sich auf unterschiedliche Objekte bezieht. Diese Arbeit geht von einem Leitmotiv der Sehnsucht aus, das in unterschiedlichen Bereichen des Stückes zeigt. Mit dem Leitmotiv im Blick werden Aufbau und Charaktere des Dramas neu betrachtet. Zunächst wird der Zusammenhang zwischen Orient und Sehnsucht beschrieben. Dadurch soll verdeutlicht werden, wieso ein Drama, das Sehnsucht als eines der Leitmotive enthält, ausgerechnet diesen Kulturraum als Handlungsort wählt.
