Publisher's Synopsis

Young Lizzie Van Ankum boarded the train in Calgary, not knowing that her well devised plans were about to blow awaylike seeds in the wind. She would travel home, as the telegram demanded, then quickly return to nurses training in the city. But what she thought would be a brief visit home, changed everything.

How could she ever live up to the promise she made Mother? If only she hadn't promised. But now she's strapped to the farm. Why, if God is a loving God, would He plant a desire in her heart, only to pluck it from her?

And what about that handsome Daniel Winslow? Would she ever see him again? Or does she need to look closer to home?

Doris Fleming was born in Alberta...western Canada's beautiful wild rose province. She grew up milking cows, pitching hay, slopping pigs and feeding threshing crews, farm chores familiar to many a farmers' daughter. Everything from gathering eggs to mucking manure has provided inspiration for this novel set in the 1920's.

Doris and her husband, Art, met in Bible College in Didsbury, Alberta and have pastored rural churches in Alberta, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. They presently reside in Idaho and have four children and nine grandchildren.
