Publisher's Synopsis

Karan Kumar is an overachiever yet is bedevilled by overly irrational self-doubt. His brain is not right, only he doesn't know it yet.

From a young age, he is constantly reminded by his Dad that "in order to become great, one has to study very hard in life". And he violently imbibes this formulaic idea as an impressionable pupil. Soon he becomes a popular school topper, craving endlessly for validation.

Extremely conscious of his topper status, he is meticulous about his image. He keeps himself away from "delinquent boys" who smoke, drink, and pursue girls. In fact, the most humiliating insult is when someone pairs him up with a girl as a form of joke. Second is when someone calls him a rote-learner. He obsesses over the minutest details of such insults, replaying it for days in his head, trying to come up with "solutions" that would safeguard him from such humiliations in the future. All in vain, though.

By the time he reaches college he is exhausted of his brain and disillusioned of the greatness he once so longed to achieve. All he wants now is pleasure - through sex and self-gratification, by hook or by crook. But his chaotic mind has become so disrupted that he can hardly function in the day-to-day activities. Once an overachiever his life is now replete with failures. The only seemingly respite is 'Scoot, Skedaddle, Vamoose', the three words he repeats to himself to push away disturbing thoughts.
