Atsego, the Susquehannock Indian taught Todd the skills of the forest, the bow, and the hatchet. The Tuscaroras adopted him as a member of the Turtle Clan and called him Tawde. Hotly pursued by the king's men, the young Doctor fled from England back to the New World. He hardly arrived in Philadelphia when he was forced to flee again. This time he disappeared into the wilds of Penn's Woods. There, his adventures began! The first Atotarho, "He who combs snakes from his hair", made a prediction as he lay on his deathbed.
