Jonathon Green has selected over 2500 quotations of a philosophical, humorous, fictional, topical and otherwise nature from a variety of contemporary sources, which he explains and expands upon in this work. Some quotations have been included for their fame and notoriety, others for their wit alone, all are accompanied by details of the context within which they occurred and where necessary of the author.
