Publisher's Synopsis

Searching for plunder, Marines step out of their whaler and onto the dock, taking a quick look, the plantation house is unguarded. They unhurriedly move up the grassy incline waving the English sloop closer.
After a few steps two lines of infantry emerge from the woods. On the right a white officer stands with sword against his shoulder. Aligned next to him a Colored company with rifles to the ready.
The sword moves, pointing. The first line kneels, the second line, rifles to their cheeks. "Go back to ya boat, now!"
All four instinctively raise their weapon.
"Fire!" As smoke clears the second line moves forward, the first line stands into firing position, waiting for an order.
With dead marines on the grass, the sloop drifts closer; guns to the ready.
Varoom! Cannons from the Oxford Militia fires, hitting the sloop. The boat drifts out into the Choptank River. The British raid at Oxford, Maryland is over.

Mingling love of family and romance, a couple rescues slaves held in cages. Soon, in exchange for freedom and farmland, they become a militia unit, at first fighting British raiders on the Eastern Shore. Traveling over to the Patuxent River on a refitted skipjack oyster boat, they joined other Maryland militia units. Soon, shoulder to shoulder Black militia engaged the English from the outskirts of Washington to a bayonet charge at Baltimore.
Fast paced and full of romance and adventure, men and women, black and white join for a common cause. During their heroic journey, Blacks overcome prejudices while helping to save Maryland.
