Christopher "Rooster" Martinez is a spoken word poet from San Antonio, TX. He is a graduate student at Our Lady of the Lake University's MA/MFA program in creative writing, literature and social justice. He is the 2013 Grand Slam Champion of San Antonio, representing the city three times ant the National Poetry slam and seven times at regional competitions. Rooster is an organizer and coach with Fresh Ink Youth Slam and co-founded the Blah Poetry Spot. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in the Pittsburgh Poetry Review, Pilgrimage Magazine, the Sagebrush Review, and self published chapbooks. Rooster has performed at numerous venues throughout Texas including, the TedX Youth San Antonio youth conference, universities, high schools, Una Noche de la Gloria art festival, and Al Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi, UAE In 2015 and '16, he was awarded a writer's residency at Lanier High School. Sangr{e}ia is his fourth chapbook to date. Sangr{e}ia contains some of his newer works with a few older poems reworked. The book of poetry focuses on his time on the home, family, and the city of his heart-San Anto.
