This book provides statisticians and researchers with the statistical tools – equations, formulae and numerical tables – to design and plan clinical studies.
The second edition represents a conisderable increase in scope over the first. Six entriely new topics have been added and many chapters have been considerably expanded. For example Chapter 1, on basic design considerations, gives greater emphasis to non–clinical trial applications and more discussion of sample size determination. Chapter 5 includes more detail on equivlance and now covers bioequivalence also, Chpater 10, on Phase II trials, has been conisderably revised and contains greater coverage of two–stage procedures. Throughout the book, many of the tables have been modified to give finer tabulation of values.
This edition is also packaged with a free computer diskette containing a software application designed to be used in conjunction with the text which greatly simplifies the process of looking up tabulated sample size values.
