This report, the fourth annual NCC survey of salaries in the computer industry, aims to provide up-to-date and reliable information for 20 job categories in computing. The 1985 edition gives a more comprehensive analysis by presenting survey conclusions in both graphic and tabular format and by providing an associated interpretative text.;The sampling frame for the survey was NCC's National Computer Index, currently comprising some 30,000 machines installed at more than 9000 sites. In December 1984 more than 2000 sites were sent the questionnaire covering staffing levels, turnover, computing configuration, salary levels, trends, holidays and fringe benefits. The data for the job categories was analysed in terms of ten "breakdown sets". Salary information was collected for around 6000 individuals.;Interpretative text appears at the start of each section, facilitating reference to points raised in the analysis.
