Publisher's Synopsis
SACRED SEEDS provides a source, both compact and convenient, of essential biblical verses for private daily worship. But it is not a book of scriptural lessons for bible study, and it neither offers any guidance nor imposes any commentary on extracts from the Bible. The verses have been selected and organised according to three topics, Precept, Prayer, and Praise, and they set out some of the cornerstone commandments and values, prayers and sayings, psalms and blessings of the Christian faith. The book falls into two parts. The first part presents five tables of central commandments and affirmations a Christian lives by. These are best spoken inwardly, or thoughtfully aloud, before going on to the psalm reading for that day in Part 2. Alternatively, a single table might be dwelt on independently in meditation, and followed up with prayer and a reading of a psalm. The second, longer part consists of readings from the Book of Psalms-one reading in the morning, another in the evening. By including either complete psalms or portions from a sequence of psalms, this compilation covers virtually the entire Book of Psalms within a calendar month. Taken as a whole, the two parts embrace the very principles that underlie a personal commitment to the discipline and celebration of worship. SACRED SEEDS lends itself to a wide variety of approaches that will enable a reader to put together her or his own daily devotion for every day of the month, both in reflecting on the day that has passed and in preparing for the day ahead.
