Publisher's Synopsis
Sacred Hymns and Spiritual Songs: For the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a hymnbook compiled by Albert Carrington and published in 1869. The book contains 271 hymns and spiritual songs that were selected for use in the church's worship services. The hymns cover a wide range of topics, including faith, repentance, baptism, the Atonement, and the Second Coming of Christ. Many of the hymns were written by members of the church, including Parley P. Pratt, William W. Phelps, and Eliza R. Snow. The book also includes a preface by Brigham Young, the second president of the church, in which he explains the importance of music in worship and encourages members to use the hymns to draw closer to God. Sacred Hymns and Spiritual Songs has been revised and updated several times since its original publication, but it remains an important part of the church's musical tradition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
