Publisher's Synopsis

Following his relentless search for revenge following the rape of his daughter, Donald Slayer, the former US Navy SEAL is trying to live a normal life in retirement in his maternal grandmother's home city of Merida, Mexico. His long time friend, federal police sergeant, Javier Fernandez is assigned to solve what appears to be a case of international baby smuggling and kidnapping. Along the way, he needs Slayer's 'special skills' to work outside the parameters permitted by a police investigator while Slayer is drifting inadvertently into a relapse of his PTSD symptoms resulting from his military service. The intrigue deepens when staff at the US Consul in Merida become implicated and then Javier becomes embroiled in another case that leads to a contract being taken out on his life by a drug baron from Cancun. Desperation on the parts of those criminally involved in both cases lead Slayer and Javier and their families down a twisting path that becomes littered with emotional and physically violent challenges that will test relationships that have lasted decades. While Slayer tries to conquer the demons which are threatening to take over his life, we are taken back several times to his missions in Afghanistan where we gain an insight into his past and why he is loathe to share his ghosts. As one would expect, there is a twist at the end that makes one wonder just what Slayer might be up to in the future.
