Bong-gu and his mother arrive in Seoul from the countryside in the middle of winter. They're from a poor, isolated area, and are looking for Bong-gu's father, who left without a trace. They meet an old man who remembers Bong-gu's dad and they are reunited. Bong-gu's father had come to the capital with big plans but things did not work out - he was too ashamed to show himself again.
