Dan Ruben robs the Benton bank of an army payroll, not knowing that Jim Ryan, a friend from way back, is the Benton marshal. Ruben sets a false trail to Mexico, hoping to fool the posse. Usually a careful planner, this time he has not checked out the law in Benton. With renegade Apaches, the cavalry, and a pursuing posse, not to mention dissent in his own camp, Ruben has a lot to deal with - and Jim Ryan has a job he never wanted. Lead would surely fly!
