Ronald "Ronnie" William George Barker, OBE, born in 1929 on 25th September, Bedford, Bedfordshire, England, UK was an actor, comedian and writer. Barker was best known for his roles in British comedy TV series including Porridge, The Two Ronnies, and Open All Hours. Barker began acting in repertory theatre, having decided that he was best suited to comic roles, having had his first success at the Oxford Playhouse then in roles in the West End, including Tom Stoppard's The Real Inspector Hound, also being cast in BBC radio and TV comedies, The Navy Lark being one. He got his TV break with the satirical sketch series The Frost Report during 1966, when he met his future partner, Ronnie Corbett, joining David Frost's production company then starring in ITV shows, including a short film.
