The book is divided into 14 chapters - such as Arran, Torridon, Cairngorms, Outer Hebrides. Each chapter has an introductory section describing its general character and giving a brief account also of the climbing history of the area. There follows information about access, accommodation, provisions, camping and mountain rescue. The climbs which are detailed total more than 500, and each has been checked, starred for quality, graded, and is described pitch by pitch. There is at least one detailed diagram for each crag, clearly delineating the topography and the climbs, and photographs show climbers in action and indicate the "atmosphere" of the routes.
