Publisher's Synopsis
This annual survey presents statistics about personal injury road accidents in 2000 and their consequent casualties. The national road accident statistics are collected and published to inform public debate and to provide an evidence base for shaping and monitoring effective road safety policies. These data are a prerequisite for the credible monitoring of targeted reductions in road accident casualties. As well as the detailed statistical table there are four articles that examine particular topics: general review of personal injury road accidents in Great Britain in 2000; review of progress towards the 2010 casualty reduction targets; drinking and driving; and the impact of speed cameras on road casualties.
