Publisher's Synopsis

A wagon train stopped at a poisoned watering place in Death Valley. Hostile Indians had been following them and had them at bay, watching them from a nearby butte. Men, women, children and animals drank, and died. Only Randolph Morgan and his wife and child didn't. Embittered, and able to elude the Indians because of his fleet golden horses, he settled in the mountains. A legend sprang up about him, his daughter and these golden horses. Years later two cowboys meet and discover that they both have ore from the famous lost mine of Breyfogle, hidden in Death Valley where Morgan took up shelter. Lightfoot has also somehow caught himself a golden Stallion with the same black markings of Morgan's horses. The race is on to learn the location of the mine and find more of the golden ghost horses who congregate at Night Water.
