Publisher's Synopsis

Richard Noel Marx was born in suburban Chicago, Illinois in 1963. His father, Dick Marx, was a successful orchestra leader and the owner of a prominent jingle company. After high school graduation, Richard was contacted by Motown singer, Lionel Richie, who invited him out to Los Angeles to enter the music business. Over the next few years, he proved himself as a songwriter, arranger, and studio back-up singer. His first two albums sold nearly 10 million U. S. copies and established Richard Marx as a key global recording artist. One of the most popular musicians of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Marx released a surfeit of major worldwide hits that included 'Right Here Waiting', 'Hazard', and 'Now And Forever'. Following his commercial heyday, he continued to produce influential, high-caliber sonic projects for himself and copious other big names in music. As of 2015, Richard Marx has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. He won the 2004 Grammy Award for 'Song Of The Year' and has received many other major award nominations. This is Richard's story, penned by writer Mark Watson for the sake of posterity. It is the first ever biography published about the musical maven.
