Richard the III was most likely written around 1592 and is one of Shakespeare's longest plays. If follows Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, as he schemes to become King of England, replacing his brother, Kind Edward IV. Following a series of imprisonments, murders, and executions, Richard faces Henry Tudor on the battlefield. Richard is visited by the ghosts of his victims, and loses the battle, leaving Henry to become King Henry VII.
