Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Rich and Poor: A Comic Opera

The author's opinions upon the subject of female frailty. Appear to have increased in laxity as be ad vanced in years, for the play originally terminated with the following great moral lesson, which in the altered piece is omitted: this, however, might arise from an impression that it was of too serious a character for the close of a Comic Opera, and calculated to cast an unpleasant damp upon the feelings of an audience.
