Publisher's Synopsis
In recent years, the number of synovectomies performed to treat rheumatoid arthritis of the elbow has decreased markedly and reconstructive surgery, including synovectomy, has come to play a dominant role. This volume provides the reader with coverage of the epidemiology as well as the conservative and reconstructive surgery of the rheumatoid elbow. From simple synovectomy to resection arthroplasty, papers in the first section discuss in detail the large range of non-implantation surgical procedures at the disposal of the orthopaedic surgeon. The second section describes and assesses the various prosthetic devices currently available for elbow joint replacement, together with indications, operative techniques and clinical results.
