Publisher's Synopsis
Concentrating on improvements which extend the development of polymer and gel technology to harsher conditions, this review describes work on stability, rheology, adsorption, permeability reduction, injectivity, gelation, transport in porous media and field applications. This includes the collection of new data and creation of databases, experiments and modelling to elucidte fundamental physio-chemical processes, numerical simulations of field treatments to improve understanding of reservoir engineering and the results of actual treatments. Significant progress has been made in the improvement of stability of xanthan biopolymer at high temperature and the development of several new gelling systems with improved high temperature stability.
