Publisher's Synopsis

In Resurgam! Fay Martin moves from singing the "Winter Blues" in lines filled with images of "nude trees with bony branches reach[ing] to the sky" and "brown ... leaves embalm[ing] the frozen ground" to chanting words of praise in "Train Ride to Machu Picchu - A Litany of Praise," a poem filled with eucalyptus, Scotch broom, and bromeliads and ferns. The poems, while appreciating nature, also take time to cherish friends, family, and the sheer blessings life bestows, including the opportunity to be "Alone in the Crowd at Rockefeller Center," where the poet people-watches and makes up stories for those surrounding her. The final line in that poem may sum up the poet's mission throughout the collection: "To see and not be seen." And we may add, to see with a poet's vision. Connie Jordan Green, author of Household Inventory, Winner of the Brick Road Poetry Prize
