Ash's dad is a sports teacher and always makes him play in goal - even though he really wants to play on the field and score goals. Ash plays factory-yard football as well as regular inter-school matches and, with his friend Thomas, gets drawn into the tough world of Cas, who is on probation for an arson attack he actually tried to prevent. Ash plays in goal in a match vital to Cas's future and pulls out all the stops to gain a victory. In spite of an injury he then plays in goal for his fatherbut comes out to score and so proves his worth in the field.
