Emmy Moore is a 15-year-old girl who is about to have a summer like no other.
Emmy's grandmother is a witch who has just had "the talk" with Emmy. The time is coming for Emmy to inherit her powers, and those of generations before her. She then meets Alicia, who is "like her" but also very different.
Emmy and Alicia embark on an exploration of spells and power, but Alicia has a few secrets, and her own, dark agenda.
The two girls build their coven in a small West Texas town. They meet in the woods and hold ceremonies that Alicia seems to know the most about, but one of their new friends, Moncerrat, has secrets as well.
Alicia reveals that she has found a gateway to ancient souls, souls like them who have crossed centuries to find them, to bond with them, to bring them unbelievable power. And they understand what Alicia infused with power will mean as they join forces to stop her.
