Excerpt from Report to the Stockholders: Mad River Lake Erie Railroad Company, Condition of Their Road, February 1, 1854
An appeal was made to the Bond-holders for relief and, we are happy to state that they generously responded to the dell. A conces sion of interest was agreed upon, running through a period of four years, securing to the Company an available amount of about dollars. To this concession the Bond-holders have very properly attached (as will be seen by the appended proceedings of the meeting at Boston) the con dition, that this amount shall be used to pay off the past due 'bonds, and entirely fund and pay off the ?oating debt.
