While serving stateside in the US Army, the author inadvertently made peace with God. He was soon sent to Vietnam, where he served as a combat medic and discovered himself and what he was made of by saving many soldiersa lives and by winning hearts and minds among the Vietnamese. However, he returned to a country that turned its back on its Vietnam veterans, including encountering strong opposition from many professing Christians. Yet despite the constant vilification directed against him, he never abandoned his belief in the rightness of the cause for which he was sent.
