Claire was an only child, born to Angelina and John Warner. John was a California winemaker who worked the vineyards with his father from childhood and eventually inherited the business when his father passed on. They lived and grew their grape vines on fifty acres of land in the Sierra Foothills of California. John exported his wines and frequently travelled abroad, promoting his labels.
John returned home later than usual one night from an extended business trip. Danger followed him home. It forced the family to escape in the middle of the night and abandon the life they had worked so hard to build.
The escape plan went terribly wrong. Claire was left alone and vulnerable. Victimized by a raw part of life, she faced some of life's hardest lessons. Life would ultimately be different.
What caused this living nightmare? Life was set for Claire, her future was bright. The twenty-three year old girl was smart beyond her years, but unprepared for the nightmare that lay ahead. What mysterious secret started it all?
