Reinforced Concrete Basics has been written for students and practising structural engineers. The concepts of analysis and design are presented from a fundamental viewpoint so that the text will be of value to readers using other codes and standards. The text takes readers to the stage where they can undertake, with confidence, the design of structural elements such as beams, slabs, columns and walls and simple concrete structures such as building frames and continuous girders.
This third edition became necessary because of important changes recently made to AS 3600. These include new approaches to calculating crack widths and to design for shear and torsion, as well as changes in the capacity reduction factors, and hence the implied safety levels in the AS 3600 design procedures.
