English summary: The chronicle of the village parish of Lutzschena and Hanichen with Quasnitz situated to the west of Leipzig was kept by parson Ernst Moritz Reichel for more than thirty years with only minor interruptions. It presents a vivid picture of communal life and of the interplay between political community, church parish and patron, embedded in the social upheavals of the nineteenth century that were decisive for the church. It is particularly this view from the "basis", in which these and other political events are presented, that makes this journal such interesting reading - a so far largely neglected and rarely presented perspective on church and society in the 19th century.
