Excerpt from Reflections on the Financial System of Great Britain, and Particularly on the Sinking Fund: Written in France in the Summer of 1812
It appeared a very curious coincidence, that the same subject should thus have occupied, at the same time, the attention of two persons, re siding in different countries, totally unconnected with each other, and placed almost at the two extremities of the scale of rank, fortune, and situation. This coincidence seemed to give to the doctrine inculcated by each, with such ine quality of talent and information, but with so much similarity of purpose, a sanction to which truth only appears to be entitled.
