This edition's multi-ethnic coverage has been expanded to include more African Amercian, Asian, Hispanic and Native American wrirters, as well as authors who concentrate on gay and lesbian issues. The first section, "Writers", provides biographies, categorized bibliographies, critical studies lists and critical essays. The "Works" section presents 130 essays on well-known works of American literature.
